For Malayalees settled abroad

Your Kerala affairs. Sorted.

One trusted relationship to organise, protect and manage everything you hold in Kerala — property, documents, professionals, family matters and the unexpected — with the discretion and rigour of a family office.

Built for families in the US, UK, Canada and Australia who may not visit Kerala for years at a time.

One relationship

A dependable point of contact for everything in Kerala.

One local presence

Someone to coordinate when a matter needs a person on the ground.

One continuity

A record and a relationship that carries across generations.

The problem

Your interests are in Kerala. Your life is somewhere else.

A property inspection needs one person. A legal matter needs another. Government paperwork, someone else. Maintenance needs a contractor. A family situation leaves you wondering whom to call. The problem is not a shortage of people who can do these things — it is the absence of one dependable relationship that brings them together.

ExpatsKerala is designed to be that layer: understand the requirement, find the right resource, coordinate the work, follow it through and keep you informed.

Karyasthan Services

Someone to call. Someone keeping an eye on things.

Karyasthan Services is an annual retainer arrangement providing dedicated representation to manage and coordinate your affairs in Kerala. Your Karyasthan is the single point of contact for those affairs. ExpatsKerala does not replace your advocate, Chartered Accountant, surveyor, valuer, architect or engineer — it understands the complete requirement, organises the information, coordinates the right people and remains accountable for follow-through.

Every Karyasthan relationship is held on an annual retainer. The level of involvement within it is yours to set: access, oversight, or dedicated stewardship.

“You do not need to know everyone in Kerala. You need to know whom to call.”

The ExpatsKerala proposition

Karyasthan is not a substitute for regulated professionals or statutory emergency services. It is the relationship that identifies the appropriate resource, coordinates local action and maintains follow-through.

Understands the requirement

Looks beyond the immediate task and understands the context before deciding what needs to happen.

Finds and briefs the right resource

Coordinates vetted professionals, service providers and on-ground assistance where required.

Follows through

Tracks the matter, keeps you informed and maintains a record of what was done.

Keeps the wider picture in view

The retainer includes monitoring, portfolio organisation and proactive review.

Karyasthan Services

Your Kerala affairs. One coordinated relationship.

Karyasthan Services is the retained relationship layer — dedicated representation for your Kerala affairs, held on an annual retainer. Expert Services provides paid consultations, reports, investigations and opinions; our professional network and Man Friday provide specialist and on-ground execution when needed.

The Karyasthan retainer

One retainer. Your Kerala affairs, fully held.

Karyasthan Services is an annual retainer arrangement providing dedicated representation to manage and coordinate your affairs in Kerala. One relationship, one annual retainer — no tiers to compare. The retainer fee is set for each family after we review the portfolio: the number and nature of assets, their locations across Kerala, pending matters and the level of on-ground attention required.

The annual retainer pays for dedicated representation and ExpatsKerala's involvement — access, organisation, monitoring, coordination and accountability. Expert Services products are separately priced unless expressly included as a retainer benefit. External professional fees outside a defined Expert Services product, government charges, travel, substantial on-ground work and separately scoped projects may be additional.

Fees for Expert Services are quoted for each matter after we understand the scope — the number of assets and documents involved, location, complexity and any specialist work required. Every quote is confirmed in writing before work begins. Government searches, official charges, travel and third-party expenses are additional where applicable. Audit reports are prepared under ExpatsKerala's quality framework. Expert opinions are issued by the assigned qualified specialist, who bears professional responsibility for the substance of the opinion. ExpatsKerala's role is panel vetting, briefing, coordination, quality control of the process and follow-through.

When something unexpected happens

Your go-to in Kerala.

Karyasthan does not replace police, ambulance, hospitals or statutory emergency services. Where those are required, they remain the appropriate first responders. ExpatsKerala assists with local coordination and follow-through within the agreed scope. Part of Personal & family concierge.

A legal notice arrives. A property problem develops. An elderly parent needs practical help. A family member is hospitalised. An important document is urgently required. There is a death in the family. Or the situation simply does not fit a category.

Call your Karyasthan. We assess what is happening, identify the appropriate people and coordinate what needs to happen locally — with Man Friday on the ground when someone needs to physically be there.

Our story

Built by people who have lived the problem.

Not a business plan that went looking for a market — an arrangement the founders built for their own families first, then for friends, then for everyone who kept asking how it worked.

ExpatsKerala did not begin as a business plan. It began as an arrangement the founders built for their own requirements, then extended to friends and family — a practical answer to the question every Malayalee abroad eventually asks: who is actually looking after things back home? A property that needs an eye kept on it, a document that needs an original signature, a parent's affairs that need someone reliable nearby. The tasks are ordinary; finding one dependable person for all of them rarely is.

The founding team brings together nearly two decades of international legal practice, advising HNIs and corporates across the Gulf and the Western world on property, probate, employment and commercial disputes. From that vantage point one gap was clear: for the growing number of Malayalees permanently settled in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, occasional visits home are no longer part of the rhythm of life — which makes one dependable, full-time relationship more important than ever.

ExpatsKerala, and its Karyasthan arm, was built to be that relationship: rooted in Kerala, run to the standards of a family office, and organised for people who may not set foot in the state for years but still need it looked after properly.

  • Origin

The gap became impossible to ignore

Clients had individual professionals for individual problems, but no single relationship that held the whole picture — and no one thinking about the next generation.

  • Foundation

    A three-person founding team

Legal strategy, financial and family-office expertise, and international legal practice combine to shape the approach.

  • Today

    One platform, two verticals

ExpatsKerala as the parent relationship; Karyasthan spanning asset and affairs management and personal and family concierge.

Leadership

The team behind ExpatsKerala.

A founding team combining legal strategy, financial stewardship and international legal practice — brought together to build the trusted layer Kerala families abroad have been missing.

Common questions

What members usually want to know.

Something not covered here? Ask us directly — we answer plainly, before you commit to anything.

What does the Karyasthan retainer cover?

One annual retainer covers dedicated representation through a Named Karyasthan, My Kerala Portfolio, monitoring and reminders, periodic property oversight, professional and vendor coordination, succession and continuity coordination, priority urgent assistance and an Annual Kerala Affairs Review.

Does ExpatsKerala provide legal, accounting or other regulated advice?

Where professional or regulated advice is required, the work is undertaken by an appropriately qualified or licensed professional. ExpatsKerala's role is to identify the need, coordinate the appropriate resource and follow through.

Is Karyasthan a retainer or pay-per-task?

Karyasthan Services is an annual retainer arrangement providing dedicated representation to manage and coordinate your affairs in Kerala. There is a single retainer, not a menu of tiers. The annual fee is determined after reviewing your portfolio, the locations of your assets and the scope of work involved, and is confirmed before the engagement begins. Expert Services products, separately scoped projects and third-party costs are quoted separately unless included in the retainer.

How is the retainer fee set?

The retainer fee is determined after an initial review of your Kerala portfolio — the number and type of assets, where they are located, their document and compliance status, any pending matters and the on-ground attention they need. The fee is confirmed in writing before the engagement begins.

What is My Kerala Portfolio?

An organised record of your Kerala assets, documents, professional contacts, pending matters and continuity information. It is built and maintained as part of the retainer and is the foundation of the ongoing relationship.

Can I call Karyasthan in an urgent situation?

Yes, within the service scope. Retainer clients receive priority handling. Police, ambulance, hospitals and other statutory emergency services remain the appropriate first responders where required.

What is the difference between a report and an investigation?

A report or audit checks a defined asset, document or status against an agreed scope. Investigation & Verification is used when the facts themselves are unclear — for example, you do not know who is occupying a property, what is happening on a site, whether a contractor's representations are accurate, or how records and local facts fit together. All enquiries are conducted lawfully and within a defined scope.

How do we communicate across time zones?

Most members work with their Karyasthan over WhatsApp and email, with calls arranged around your hours. Everything agreed is recorded so nothing depends on a single conversation.
